When I uninstalled 'Microsoft Office 2013' on 'Windows 2012 R2 Server' OS and tried installing my plugin, It still installs because it finds a registry key 'HKEYLOCALMACHINE SOFTWARE Microsoft Office 15.0 Word Text Converters' which has not got deleted during uninstallation of MS Office 2013. Aug 26, 2017 BUT BE WARNED a bad registry key can seriously damage your computer. Thank you for the response. I just want to confirm, since I have the Explorer folder in the HKEYLocalMachine folder but not in the HKEYCurrentUser folder I shouldn't have to create a new registry key. HKEYLOCALMACHINE Software Microsoft Windows refers to the subkey 'Windows' of the subkey 'Microsoft' of the subkey 'Software' of the HKEYLOCALMACHINE root key. There are seven predefined root keys, traditionally named according to their constant handles defined in the Win32 API, or by synonymous abbreviations (depending on applications). Registry key HKEYLOCALMACHINE System CurrentControlSet Control Lsa LmCompatibilityLevel has type REGDWORD LAN Manager Authentication Level oval:gov.nist.3:def:97: Registry key HKEYLOCALMACHINE System CurrentControlSet Control Lsa LmCompatibilityLevel has type REGDWORD. The HKEYLOCALMACHINE, or HKLM, is part of the Windows registry, which is a database containing all computer and user information. In particular, the HKLM registry hive contains the computer settings and properties. Other registry hives such as HKEYCURRENTUSER or HKEYUSERS contain user properties and settings. Several sub-keys exist under HKLM.
The Windows registry contains a root key titled HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE, or HKLM. The HKLM root key contains settings that relate to the local computer. In Microsoft Windows XP and prior, there are four main subkeys under HKLM: SAM, SECURITY, SOFTWARE, SYSTEM. There is also a fifth subkey, titled HARDWARE, which is created on-the-fly and is not stored in a registry file. In Windows Vista and 7, a sixth subkey is present, titled BCD.
Free silk road game download. The SOFTWARE subkey is the most commonly accessed registry key, as it contains the settings for Windows and the software programs installed on the computer. When a software program is installed, data is written to the SOFTWARE subkey to store application-specific settings. These settings are loaded into the computer memory each time the operating system starts, so that when a program is loaded by the user they do not need to configure the program again. Non-admin and unelevated admin users don't have rights to modify the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE key. Run the program 'as administrator'.

Even when admin I don't think you can create new keys off LocalMachine. Microsoft windows free tune up. Make sure that you do
and not Guru driver uninstaller.

Well you've got your answer already - I'm guessing you're running on Vista or Windows 7 (or Server 2008) and the process/user running the app doesn't have rights/permission to modify the registry.
So its not a code problem as such but a systems admin one. Build the app and run as administrator and see if that works.
